Community Housing Development

Community Housing Development: Introduction

A registered as a social housing provider with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and regulated by the Community Housing Regulatory Authority (CHRA).  Our team is dedicated to developing and managing social and community housing development and management, as well as commercial property management.

Social Housing:

In 2018, we are proudly in partnership with NZ government to develop the CNSST Kotuku House, a 36-unit apartment block located in the Panmure business centre, in providing rental social housing for 52 Asian seniors, ensuring they have a safe and supportive living environment. We place a special focus on delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate wrap-around services to the community. In addition to urban housing projects, we also manage social housing in rural North Auckland, where we accommodate a Kiwi family of five.

Community and Commercial Property Management

Our team also provides comprehensive property management services for local communities, eg. provide office or shared space for local community and church groups.  In March 2024, we opened the Community Services Hub in Albany North Shore, and this building not only serves as the office for the Community Service Hub but also accommodates more than 10 small businesses, offering medical services, counselling services, and other essential services. Our commercial property management ensures that these businesses operate in a conducive environment, benefiting both the service providers and the community they serve.

CNSST Kotuku House

While future housing projects are in the planning and implementation stage, current social housing consists of CNSST Kotuku House,  a 4-level building with 36 one-bedroom apartments, built in partnership with government. It is specifically designed for Asian seniors who face a range of difficulties in accessing the private rental market in Auckland. Each unit is 59 m2, with private bathroom and balcony, and waste management and security system. The ground floor serves as our CNSST main office, providing wrap-around support to residents and the wider community.

Its grand opening was held on 28th March 2018.

Please note:

  • All prospective tenants must be referred to us by Work & Income and are subject to meeting Work & Income’s eligibility criteria.  CNSST Foundation does not charge any fee to place tenants into CNSST Kotuku House.
